AR STAR Testing
The STAR Reading Test is a quick reading assessment that assigns each student a Reading Zone (ZPD). The test is given at the beginning of each 9 weeks. This test is taken on a computer in the computer lab.
It is important for a student to select books in his assigned ZPD. Studies show that a student’s reading comprehension will improve by reading books in his ZPD. Rule of thumb: If a student scores 100% on most of his AR tests, he may be reading below his ZPD. If a student scores below 85% on most of his AR tests he may be reading books that are above his ZPD.
